Why Wristlore

The difference is in
how we approach the work.

Choosing where to trust your timepiece is a considered decision. These are the reasons our clients return — and why they send people they care about to us.

What sets Wristlore apart

These aren't policies — they're the natural result of caring about the work and the people we do it for.

Swiss & Japanese training

Our lead watchmaker holds qualifications from both Swiss and Japanese horological institutions.

Estimates before work begins

We share a clear, written estimate before starting anything. You decide how to proceed.

Replaced parts returned

All original components we remove are catalogued and returned. Nothing is discarded without your consent.

Timing machine regulated

Every mechanical movement is measured on a precision timing machine, not estimated by feel.

Condition photos on intake

We photograph your watch when it arrives, establishing a clear baseline before any work is done.

Central KL workshop

Located on Jalan Sultan Ismail, accessible by MRT, bus, and nearby parking.

In depth

Each benefit, examined closely

Professional expertise

The quality of a watch service depends almost entirely on the person performing it. Our lead watchmaker trained formally in Switzerland and Japan — two traditions that approach movement work differently, and together provide a broad, well-rounded foundation. This dual background means Wristlore is comfortable with Swiss lever escapements, Japanese quartz circuits, vintage pin-pallet movements, and much in between.

  • Qualified watchmakers with formal international training
  • Comfortable with Swiss, Japanese, and vintage movements
  • Ongoing professional development and technical reading

Technology and tools

Good intentions without good instruments produce inconsistent results. Wristlore uses current-generation timing equipment, proper ultrasonic cleaning capability, and a range of manufacturer-specified lubricants. Our timing machine measures a movement's amplitude, beat error, and rate deviation across six positions — data that guides precise regulation rather than guesswork.

  • Precision timing machine (multi-position testing)
  • Ultrasonic movement cleaning equipment
  • Current-generation watch lubricants by function

Customer care

Leaving a valued watch with someone requires trust. We work hard to earn and keep that trust through clear communication, consistent follow-through, and a genuine effort to understand what each client cares about. Some people want frequent updates; others prefer a single call when the work is done. We adapt to the preference.

  • Pre-service consultation for all Legacy Preservation work
  • Progress updates by phone or email, as preferred
  • Written service report with every completed job

Value and honest pricing

Our pricing reflects the real cost of skilled labour, quality materials, and careful handling. We don't pad estimates with unnecessary line items, and we don't undercharge in ways that would compromise the work. Prices are shared clearly before anything begins, and the final invoice will match the estimate unless something unexpected is discovered mid-service — in which case we'll discuss it with you first.

  • Itemised estimates provided in advance
  • No surprise costs — changes discussed before proceeding
  • Three clearly scoped service tiers (MYR 1,500 – 8,200)

Results and care outcomes

A well-serviced mechanical watch should keep accurate time, run consistently, and be free of unnecessary friction or wear. A quartz watch should seal properly, operate within its designed specifications, and show no battery drain anomalies. For vintage pieces, the goal is conservation — preserving what makes the piece remarkable while addressing what prevents it from working. We measure and document results so there's a clear record of where your watch started and where it ended.

  • Measurable regulation data from timing machine
  • Photographic before/after for Legacy Preservation
  • Clear service record to accompany the watch

Distinctive features

Several aspects of how we work are genuinely uncommon among independent watch service providers in Malaysia.

The Legacy Consultation

Before beginning any heirloom or vintage work, we sit with the client and listen. Understanding the history and meaning of a piece shapes how we approach the work. This conversation is not a formality — it genuinely informs decisions about what to preserve and what to restore.

Photographic Archive

For Legacy Preservation work, we produce a complete photographic record — not just before and after shots, but staged images throughout the disassembly and reassembly process. These accompany the finished piece and can serve as documentation for insurance or estate purposes.

Custom Gasket Fabrication

For vintage references where correct gaskets are no longer commercially available, we are able to fabricate custom seals to the appropriate dimensions. This capability is rarely offered and allows us to restore water resistance to pieces where off-the-shelf parts simply don't exist.
