Wristlore

Who we are

A studio built on
craft and quiet dedication.

Wristlore was founded in Kuala Lumpur with one clear purpose: to offer watch owners in Malaysia a place where their timepieces receive genuine, skilled care — without shortcuts.

Our story

Where Wristlore began

Wristlore opened its doors on Jalan Sultan Ismail in the early part of this decade, founded by a small team of watchmakers who shared a frustration: quality independent watch service in Kuala Lumpur was harder to find than it ought to be. The founding watchmaker had trained across both Switzerland and Japan, and brought that dual perspective back to Malaysia with a clear intention — to build a workshop that treated every timepiece with the seriousness it deserved, regardless of whether it was a daily-wear quartz or a treasured family piece.

The name Wristlore reflects the belief that watches carry stories. They mark moments, pass between generations, and often mean something quietly profound to the people who wear them. Our work is shaped by that understanding. A service is not just technical — it is also a matter of trust, and we try not to take that lightly.

Over the years, Wristlore has grown steadily through word of mouth. Clients refer friends not because we offer the lowest prices, but because they feel their watches were understood and handled with care. That relationship with the people who come to us matters as much to us as the work itself.

What guides us

Our mission and values

Every decision we make in the workshop flows from a set of principles we return to regularly.

Honest Assessment

We only recommend work that a watch genuinely needs. If a timepiece is in good health, we'll say so plainly.

Craft over Speed

We set realistic timelines because good watchwork cannot be hurried. The work takes as long as it properly should.

Clear Communication

We explain what we find and what we plan in plain language. You won't be left wondering what's happening with your watch.

Respect for Originality

We avoid unnecessary modifications and preserve original character wherever the owner wishes us to.

Secure Handling

Every watch is tracked, catalogued, and stored securely throughout its time in our care.

Continuous Learning

The craft of horology evolves. Our team stays current with technical developments and references across vintage and modern calibers.

The people behind the work

Our team

A small group of people who take the work seriously, without taking themselves too seriously.

How we work

Standards we hold ourselves to

These are not aspirational statements — they describe the way we actually operate in our workshop every day.

Timing Machine Verification

Every mechanical caliber is tested on a precision timing machine before and after service.

Manufacturer-Grade Lubricants

We use only current-generation watch-specific lubricants appropriate to each component type and tolerance.

Written Service Records

A clear service report accompanies every completed watch, detailing the work performed and parts assessed.

Secure Workshop Environment

All watches are individually labelled and stored in a monitored, locked environment throughout their time with us.

Photographic Documentation

Condition photos are taken on intake. For Legacy Preservation, a full photographic record accompanies the finished work.

Original Parts Policy

Replaced components are returned to the owner. Nothing original is discarded without explicit consent.

Pre-Work Consultation

We explain our findings and share an estimate before beginning any service. No surprises at collection.

Data Privacy

Client information is handled with care and never shared with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Specialist watch care in Kuala Lumpur

Watch servicing is a precise discipline, and the results depend heavily on the knowledge, tools, and care that a workshop brings to each piece. At Wristlore, we focus specifically on watch repair and restoration — not as a sideline to retail, but as the entirety of what we do. That focus means our equipment, reference library, and skill set are all pointed toward one purpose.

Kuala Lumpur is home to a remarkable range of watch collectors and wearers, from those with daily quartz timepieces to serious collectors maintaining high-complication Swiss movements. Wristlore was built to serve this full range, with service offerings priced and scoped accordingly. Our approach scales from a straightforward quartz service to the kind of detailed vintage restoration work that some pieces genuinely call for.

The most important thing we can offer is clarity. When a watch comes to us, we examine it carefully, explain what we find, and suggest the appropriate course of action. We don't oversell services, and we don't skip steps. For clients in Malaysia seeking dependable, thoughtfully executed watch care, Wristlore is a studio worth knowing about.
